Scripture:
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21
Observation:
Advent means “coming”, or celebrating the coming of Christ. On this second day of Advent, we are focusing on God’s purposes, especially when our own plans go awry. Mary had plans – plans to marry Joseph, plans that didn’t include suddenly being pregnant with the Son of God. Just like Mary chose to do, we can choose to trust the Lord when our plans go sideways.
Application:
God wants you to trust in His purposes for your life! Trust today that He will work all things together for your good, just like He did for Mary and Joseph.
Prayer:
Lord, I thank you that your purposes are good, they are trustworthy, and that they stand even when everything else falls away. I trust you, Lord. Amen.
