Scripture:

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: ‘Everyone is looking for you!’ Jesus replied, ‘Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”’ Mark 1:35-38

Observation:

Jesus models for us throughout scripture daily practices to help us stay close to God, keep our priorities straight, and fight stress. We see in the second part of this passage why he needed to prioritize that time alone – because everyone wanted something from him!

Application:

This week we will be diving deeper into the life of Jesus to learn how to manage our stress. Today we’re going to start by following Jesus’ example, and praying. Pray the following with us.

Prayer:

Father, I invite your Holy Spirit to fill me with your presence and your peace today. I want to learn how to manage my stress well. I choose to lean into your presence and your word today. Amen.
