Life and Legacy
Scripture:
“Then Jacob instructed them, ‘Soon I will die and join my ancestors. Bury me with my father and grandfather in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite…’ When Jacob had finished this charge to his sons, he drew his feet into the bed, breathed his last, and joined his ancestors in death.” Genesis 49:29, 33
Observation:
The legacy we leave at the end of our lives is built through our daily decisions. We’ll experience both failures and successes throughout our lives. Both are part of our legacy, just like they were for Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham. How will you handle failures when they happen? How we respond to the mistakes that we make is sometimes even more important than the successes we obtain.
Application:
Respond with grace to your failures. Allow the grace of God to lead you through both your successes and your failures. Let the legacy you leave be a life filled with evidence of the grace of God.
Prayer:
Lord, I want to leave a legacy that honors you. Let your grace be so evident to everyone who knows me. Let them see it through both the times that I succeed, and especially through the times when I fail. Help me to leave a legacy of grace. Amen.
