Scripture:

“Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved—the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked, “Lord, who will betray you?” Peter asked Jesus, “What about him, Lord?” Jesus replied, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me.” John 21:20-22

Observation:

Take your eyes off of everyone else and follow Jesus. Jesus doesn’t want you to compete or compare. He wants you to be exactly who He created you to be!

Application:

Want to live a life full of meaning? Are you struggling with confidence, or rarely feel self-assured? Odds are good that you’re focused on the wrong things. Take stock today of your inner dialogue, of the things you fixate on. Stop the comparison trap and let Jesus be the one who speaks value and worth and purpose over you today!

Prayer:

Jesus, I want my worth to come from you alone. I’m tired of comparing and not measuring up. I’m tired of the frustration and the desire to be more. Help me to look only to you for my purpose. I choose today to be still, to quiet the voices, and to ask you alone to show me who you’ve created me to be. I love you Lord. Amen.
