Just Say No
Scripture:
“And I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work and I cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you?” And they sent to me four times in this way, and I answered them in the same manner.” Nehemiah 6:3-4
Observation:
God wants you to learn to say no. Nehemiah was very comfortable keeping his boundaries, because he knew what work needed to be prioritized. God doesn’t want us to say yes to every request that comes our way. He wants us to focus on what’s most important, like Nehemiah did.
Application:
Practice saying “no” with a smile. It’s okay to turn down even good things if they’re going to take away from the best things God has set before you to do.
Prayer:
Lord, help me learn to say no. Help me to know when something comes up that will take away from what I’m supposed to be focused on. Thank you for reminding me today that I’m not called to do everything. Help me to keep my priorities correct. Amen.
