Scripture:

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10

Observation:

God called you out of darkness and brought you into His light. He chose you, and He speaks purpose over you every day. He sees the absolute best in you, and speaks that life over you, cheering you on! As God cheers you on, you are also called to cheer others on. Speak life over the people around you. As an image bearer of God, you are uniquely granted the ability to call out giftings and purpose in those around you. Be a person who speaks life and calling and purpose over others, just like your Heavenly Father does over you.

Application:

Take a moment today to remember the balcony people in your own life – the people who call out the best in you. Then take a moment and think on who God has placed in your life and called you to be a balcony person for. Who can you encourage today?

Prayer:

Lord I want to be a balcony person. I want to call out the best in those around me. Guard my tongue when I’m inclined to be critical; help me to see the best in others, like you see the best in me. I am willing, and I want to be used by you to speak life into someone else today. Show me how Lord. Amen.
