Love Is A Command And A Choice

Scripture:

Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.” 2 John 1:6

Go after a life of love as if your life depended on it—because it does.” 1 Corinthians 14:1

Observation:

Love is a command and a choice. Love is more than a feeling, although it can create feelings. The highest form of love is when we choose to love someone, just like God chose to love us. But like with any command, we have a choice to make. We have to choose to obey and love like God called us to do.

Application:

Reflect today on what love means to you. How does looking at love as a command from God and a choice you make impact your perception of love in your own life?

Prayer:

Father, I don’t want my love to be shallow or driven by my feelings alone. I want to love like you’ve commanded me to. Show me how to love more like you today. Amen.
