You Must Rest
“You are to labor six days but you must rest on the seventh day; you must even rest during plowing and harvesting times.” Exodus 34:21
God designed you to rest every seven days. He wants you to prioritize setting a day aside each week for rest. Even during your busiest seasons, like He’s referencing in this verse, He commands us to set time aside for it. He knows that without regular rest, we’ll burn out.
There are three things you should focus on during your sabbath day: Rest your body, recharge your emotions, and refocus your spirit. Make it a habit and prioritize having a sabbath day each week.
Lord, please forgive me for the many times I have not honored the sabbath. I know that you established a day of rest because you knew I would need it to be my best and walk out the callings you have for me. I want to do better. Help me to take the time you’ve asked me to to rest and reconnect with you. Amen.
