True Sacrifice Costs Something

 Scripture:

But the king replied to Araunah, ‘No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the Lord my God that have cost me nothing.’ So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen.” 2 Samuel 24:24

Observation:

True sacrifice comes at a price. Are we only willing to surrender to God that which doesn’t cost us much? Or are we willing to lay everything down if He asks it of us?

Application:

Is God asking you to lay something on the altar before Him today? Maybe it’s your marriage, or a wayward child, or a hard decision that you need to make. Whatever it is, trust Him and lay it down. It may not work out the way you hope, but you can hold onto the fact that God will never leave you or forsake you. He will not abandon you in your need.

Prayer:

Jesus, I lay _________ before you. I surrender this to you Lord, and I trust you with it. Meet me here in my time of need and confusion. I believe that you are with me and you will not abandon me. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
