Scripture:

When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “‘If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.’” Exodus 13:17

Observation:

The land between is where you’ve left where you were but you’re not where you want to be yet. Maybe like the Israelites, you’re not even sure where the Promised Land is for you yet. But God knows. We see in this passage that He even had a plan for the time they wandered in the wilderness. He knew them so well that He knew the work He’d need to do in that wandering season for them to be ready to enter the land He had promised them.

Application:

What do you do in the land in between? Trust God. Be honest with Him and some trusted others about how you’re feeling. Then follow the cloud like the Israelites; when God moves, move with Him! Even when you feel lost, He is still in control.

Prayer:

Father I don’t want to spend any more time in the in between than I have to. Help me to learn quickly, and change quickly. Help me to follow where you lead and not take detours. I trust you Lord, and I know that YOU know where you’re leading me even when I feel lost. Amen.
