Scripture:

“And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, ‘You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas’ (which, when translated, is Peter).” John 1:42

Observation:

Jesus sees things in us not just as they are, but as they could be. He calls out the potential, the gifts entrusted to us, the best he knows we can be.

Application:

As image-bearers of Jesus, we also can call out the potential in others. Who in your life can you have the, “I see in you,” conversation today?

Prayer:

Jesus thank you for seeing me beyond what I am and calling me to be the person you’ve created me to be. Help me to do that for others today as well. Help me to see the potential and purpose in those around me, and encourage them as you encourage me. Amen.
