Learning To Listen
Scripture:
“Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” Psalm 25:4-5
Observation:
To be a good listener, we have to be present in the moment. Whether with God or with people, if we sit with our answer running we won’t really be listening or learning from the moment. We have to learn to be still and present.
Application:
In those moments when we’re quiet and waiting, ask God to speak to you. Be open to whatever it is He wants to say. Practice active listening today; both in your quiet moments with God, and with those you talk to. Practice turning your answer off and give yourself over to listening today.
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to listen to you. Help me to find moments of quiet to still myself before you so that I can hear you. I don’t want to be so focused on the future and the what ifs that I miss what you’re trying to do in my present moments. I want to hear you Lord. Amen.
