Scripture & Observation:
Unconditional love is a God concept. Love is:
- A command – “Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.” 2 John 1:6
- A choice – “Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.” 1 Corinthians 14:1
- A conduct – “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18
- A commitment – “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” 1 John 4:16
Application:
The Bible makes it clear that love isn’t just a feeling. It’s a mandate and a decision we make, something we are to be committed to. Love is to be evident in our actions and not just our words. Love is a choice. Choose to love like God has called you to, today and every day.
Prayer:
Jesus, I want to love like you. Help me to love well today. Amen.
