Scripture:

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’” Matthew 3:16-17

Observation:

Jesus didn’t do any of his ministry until after he was baptized in water. Something of the Spirit is imparted to you at baptism. Tonight we will be offering an opportunity for you to be baptized. If you’ve never been baptized before, or if you need to rededicate your life to Jesus and feel the prompting to take this step, don’t miss out!

Application:

Let’s celebrate today our identity with Jesus through water baptism.

Prayer:

Thank you Jesus that I am born new in you through water baptism. I don’t want anything to limit me from the fullness you have in store for my life. Help me to make the steps I need to today, and help those in my life to take those steps too.
