Respond Instead Of React
Scripture:
“Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:7-8
Observation:
We have been given free will by God. We get to decide what we do with our time, our talents, and our emotions. We can choose to argue. We can choose to make knee jerk reactions, and impulsive decisions. Or we can choose to respond using the self-control that we have access to as a fruit of the Spirit.
Application:
God wants us to pause and think before we act. He wants us to respond, being mindful of the priorities He’s given to us. Whether it’s a decision you need to make, or an emotional situation you find yourself facing – Choose today to pause and take the time you need to respond instead of being reactionary.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to respond instead of reacting. Empower me with self-control and a clear mind in every situation I face today. I want to make decisions with the priorities you’ve set before me in mind. Help me Lord. Amen.
