Watch Your Mouth

Scripture:

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29

Observation:

We will create our worlds with our words. God literally spoke the world into creation. We cannot underestimate the power of the things that we speak. The call to be mindful of our speech is repeated throughout scripture. God wants you to be careful and intentional with the words that you say to yourself, and to others.

Application:

You have tremendous power in your words. What are you using that power for? Speak positively today. Choose to build people up with your words. Speak words of faith, not words of doubt. Be mindful of what you say and see how it changes the atmosphere of your heart and home today.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to be mindful of my words. Help me to build others up, and not tear them down. I ask that you put a guard over my mouth and stop me from speaking things that would be harmful. Forgive me for the times that I’ve spoken carelessly. Thank you for your grace and the ability to start fresh again. Amen.
