Atmosphere of Affirmation
Scripture:
Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.
Observation:
The word is full of encouragement and affirmation. Here, we see a call to action to motivate one another
Application:
What is an affirmation? Is it simply telling someone, “great job!” and giving them a pat on the back? No. God is calling us to motivate one another to acts of love and good works and we can accomplish this by doing just that. Encouraging through love by the way we treat and speak to people around us. Whether it be small and simple or a grand gesture, speak into someone’s life today and tell them how valued they are and why. A little goes a long way!
Prayer:
Jesus, we thank you for the people in our lives who encourage and affirm us. Many times, you use individuals in our lives to speak into us in a way that confirms your plans for us. We also thank you for your Word because it encourages us every day. It’s like a drink of fresh water on a dry tongue. You fill us and send us out to then pour into others so that they may also do the same. Lord, you are good. Amen.
