Read Your Way Out Of A Rut

Scripture:

When you come, be sure to bring the coat I left with Carpus at Troas. Also bring my books, and especially my papers.” 2 Timothy 4:13

Observation:

Paul was in prison when he wrote this to Timothy. He’s in prison, being intentional about continuing to read because he knows that it will keep his mind engaged and growing even when he’s physically stuck. Reading edifying books can grow you and encourage you; it can pull you out of a rut.

Application:

If you’re feeling stuck or down, maybe it’s time to introduce some new reading to your daily life. Find books that build you up and teach you. Commit to reading even just a little bit each day this week.

Prayer:

Lord, I know that you can speak to me in so many ways. Direct me to books that will grow me more and more into the person you want me to be. Help me to a person who is open to continual growth. Amen.
